If you’re looking to get involved in theatre in the area, we have plenty of events coming up soon whether you want to audition, volunteer, or simply show your support by coming to see a show!
If you enjoy farce, you’ll be rolling on the floor laughing at this hilarious plot. Two Shakespearean acotrs who are down on their luck read about a woman in PA who is about to die and looking for her two long-lost relatives Max and Steve to bequeath her millions to. Broke, they hatch a plan to pose as her two nephews. However once they arrive in York, they find out Max and Steve are actually Maxine and Stephanie! But they are determined and continue on as women. This play will have you rolling from scene one and somehow manages to get funnier and funnier. So if you like a good laugh, this is the show for you! (Update: A new showing was added on Thursday, February 18th, so if your weekends are full, you have a week-night opportunity!)
I’m not very familiar with this show except I know that it recently has been revived on Broadway with a star-studded cast. And from the press-videos that have been released by the Roundabout Theatre Company, it looks amazing. So this is another farce available to you in the upcoming weeks! It’s especially hilarious for anyone who does theatre considering the show is about an unprepared cast goes onstage without a dress rehearsal. It;s hilarious and slapstick. You can read about the show, the author, and read reviews here.
Here’s a little bit for those Shakespeare fanatics out there. Theatre Bristol has final performances for this Shakespearean comedy this weekend! Click the link above for info and ticket sales. (This is a perfect show if you are celebrating a late Valentines Day because of the snow like me.)
Id you’ve seen/heard The Last Five Years or Parade, or Sangs For a New World or his current Broadway adventure, Bridges of Madison County, you know that Jason Robert Brown is amazing composer and his shows never fail it impress. Especially great for young teens, this show is great to take the kids to. Also, the cast is so excited!
